What we haul

Authorized by the FMCSA for general freight, metal products, building materials, machinery, oilfield equipment, and construction materials. Here's what that looks like on the road.

Oilfield Equipment Transport

Our core specialty. Northwing moves oilfield equipment across Alberta's oil sands region and beyond — pipe, drilling components, rig mats, and heavy machinery for upstream operations.

Every oilfield driver on our roster carries CSO (Common Safety Orientation), H2S Alive, and Standard First Aid certifications. They're clean-shaven for respiratory protection compliance and trained for remote site access protocols. This isn't a sideline — it's what we built the company around.

Flatbed & Heavy Haul

Metal sheets, coils, and rolls. Large machinery. Oversized loads that don't fit in a box. Our flatbed fleet handles it with standard flatbeds, step deck trailers, and RGN (removable gooseneck) configurations for the heaviest loads.

All 15 trailers are company-owned and maintained by our in-house greasing and maintenance crew. B-train configurations available for high-volume loads.

Cross-Border Canada/US Freight

Northwing holds Common Authority for interstate property transport under USDOT 3599714 and MC-1222244. We run regular lanes between Alberta and the Pacific Northwest, with confirmed routes into Washington state and capacity across the northern US corridor.

All cross-border drivers carry valid passports, clean criminal record checks, and full FAST or customs documentation. Over 1.5 million miles driven in 2024 — a significant portion of that crossing the border.

Winch Truck Operations

Dedicated Class 1 winch truck operators for oilfield pickup, delivery, and positioning work. Loading and securing heavy equipment at remote well sites, construction pads, and staging areas across Alberta.

Winch truck drivers are hired as a separate crew with specialized experience requirements. Same safety certifications as our oilfield division — CSO, H2S Alive, First Aid — plus hands-on winching and rigging experience.

Dangerous Goods Transport

Northwing drivers are trained and authorized to transport and handle dangerous goods with proper documentation, occurrence reporting, and compliance protocols. Zero hazmat violations in our FMCSA inspection history.

General Freight & Building Materials

Beyond our specialty services, Northwing handles general freight, building materials, structural steel, and construction supplies. Long-haul and short-haul options across Western Canada with the same safety standards and owned equipment we bring to every load.

All trucks run electronic logging devices (E-Logs) and our drivers operate 18-speed manual transmission tractors — experienced professionals, not beginners.
